IX Summit of the Americas

In the days leading up to the IX Summit, the Government of the United States as host country, and in coordination with the Summits Secretariat, organized the Civil Society Forum and the Dialogue between Civil Society, Social Actors and High Level Government Representatives. These participation platforms allowed civil society organizations and social actors to become actively involved in this key stage of the Summits Process, contributing to and influencing the definition of priorities in the Americas.

Civil Society Forum

The Civil Society Forum held on June 6 and 7, provided an opportunity for civil society organizations and social actors to discuss on the IX Summit thematic pillars and related topics, agree on recommendations, and present the initiatives they are implementing and that are related to the thematic pillars of the Summit.

Thematic Subregional Working Group Meetings

It offered civil society organizations and social actors the opportunity to meet to exchange ideas on the thematic pillars of the IX Summit and to finalize the recommendations to be presented at the Dialogue with High-Level Government Representatives.

Initiatives Fair

Initiatives Fair allowed civil society organizations and social actors to present projects related to the IX Summit thematic pillars to a varied audience that included government representatives, regional and international organizations, civil society organizations, social actors and media.

Thematic Discussions

The thematic discussions gave participants the opportunity to attend presentations by high-level experts on various aspects on the IX Summit thematic pillars and related topics. After the presentation of each panel, participants were able to intervene and ask questions.

On June 8, spokespersons of the thematic subregional working groups presented the final recommendations of civil society organizations and social actors on the Summit's thematic pillars to the high authorities of the countries participating in the Summit Process.
