...that on January 15, 2013, the Government of Colombia presented the statue of the "Inukshuk" to the Government of Panama, signifying the official transfer of chairmanship to the country that will host the next Summit? The Inukshuk, a stone landmark used by the Inuit and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America, is also a symbol of the Summits of the Americas and represents “guidance and unity of our peoples toward common goals”. This Inukshuk was first presented by the Government of Canada, host of the Third Summit, to the Government of Argentina, host of the Fourth Summit and has since then, been used to mark the transfer of leadership from one Summit host to the next. The Seventh Summit of the Americas will be held in Panama City, Panama in 2015.

V Summit of the Americas, Trinidad and Tobago:

“In order to strengthen ministerial participation in and continuity with the Summits of the Americas Process... We further commit to convening the Summit of the Americas on a regular basis and no later than every three years...”
