Did you know...

...that the Government of Guyana has established a National Training Programme for Youth Empowerment that offers job and economic opportunities to high-risk youth? In 2010, this program, which reflects several Summits commitments, enabled over 2,000 youth to learn new skills such as heavy-duty equipment operation, carpentry, garment construction and Information Communication Technology.

Paragraph 39, Fifth Summit of the Americas: “…we commit to continue investing in our young people by implementing policies and programmes aimed at: expanding their economic opportunities; providing access to comprehensive education and training for in-demand skills...”

The training programme is a collaborative effort between the Government of Guyana and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). UNDP became a member of the Joint Summit Working Group in 2009.
