Did you know...

...that the expansion program of the Panama Canal will double the waterway’s capacity to move freight from 300 to 600 million tons per year? The expansion program has benefited from private sector involvement and is financed by several international organizations including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) and the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) of the World Bank. This expansion, which will conclude in 2014, is expected to generate a significant increase in income for Panama and contribute to the creation of approximately 19,000 jobs.
