Did you know...

...that El Salvador was the first country in Central America that implemented a treatment and rehabilitation system to address problems of drug use and violence? Since 2007, the program has trained and certified more than 500 persons from the National Drug Commissions and non-governmental organizations who in turn provided treatment and rehabilitation services for more than 38,000 people with problems associated from drug use. The program’s success has resulted in its expansion into Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and is about to be launched in 14 member states of the Caribbean.

Paragraph 30, Fifth Summit of the Americas: “We commit to strengthening actions aimed at reducing drug abuse and illicit drug use, with particular regard to prevention, education, treatment, rehabilitation and reincorporation into society, with public awareness campaigns to assist in reducing the demand for illicit drugs"
