Did you know...

…that on May 10, 2016, the Government of Panama presented the statue of the "Inukshuk" to the Government of Peru, which represents the official transfer of chairmanship to the country that will host the next Summit? The Inukshuk, a stone landmark used by the Inuit and other peoples of the Arctic region of North America, is also a symbol of the Summits of the Americas. It was first presented by Canada, host of the III Summit to Argentina, host of the IV Summit as a symbol of guidance and unity toward common goals and has since then, been used to mark the transfer of leadership from one Summit host to the next. The Eighth Summit of the Americas will be held in Peru in 2018.
