Did you know…

Energía eólica…that the first wind farm in Honduras is also the largest in Central America? The 51 windmills that form part of the Cerro de Hula wind project generate 102 megawatts of clean energy and service approximately 100,000 homes. Thanks to this and other clean energy projects in the country, Honduras hopes to constitute 80% of its electricity generation matrix from renewable energy. This will reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions by 270 tons.

Partners:

Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE), Globaleq - Mesoamerica Energy, Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), and the Export-Import Bank of the United States.

V Summit of the Americas, Trinidad and Tobago:

“... We will aim to develop cleaner, more affordable and sustainable energy systems, to promote access to energy and energy efficient technologies and practices in all sectors. We will aim to diversify our energy matrices by increasing, where appropriate, the contribution of renewable energy sources, and will encourage the cleaner, more efficient use of fossil fuels and other fuels”
