Summits of the Americas Secretariat

- In brief -

Government and Social Actor Dialogue

Did you know…

…that more than 800 social actors met with Presidents Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia and Evo Morales of Bolivia and other high-level government officials in a dialogue held parallel to the Sixth Summit of the Americas in Colombia? The participants, representing civil society organizations, youth, indigenous peoples, and workers, proposed initiatives and identified joint actions for the implementation of Summit mandates. These included activities on disasters, poverty and inequality, security, infrastructure, and access to information technology. The recommendations of this inter-sectoral dialogue of governments represented the culmination of several months of consultation with civil society organizations and other social actors.
