…that the Summits of the Americas is a three-year process of implementation and preparation that will culminate with a meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Americas on April 13 and 14, 2018 in Lima, Peru? The central theme of the upcoming Eighth Summit is “Democratic Governance against Corruption” and has been selected by the host country, Peru “since this is a shared concern of the countries of the region for which urgent and effective steps must be taken”*. Negotiations on the document to be presented by the Heads of State and Government at the Summit will be held among countries of the hemisphere via the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG). The various stakeholders of the Summits Process, such as the organizations of the Joint Summit Working Group (JSWG) and social actors will also be consulted for their input and recommendations.
